India accounts for about 11% of global road accident deaths despite having just 1% of the world's vehicles. With over 450 deaths daily, road accidents are a leading cause of death for young Indians aged 18-45.

Risk Calculation Methodology: The displayed risk percentages are calculated based on each state's annual road accident fatalities, standardized against a maximum cap of 25,000 deaths per state.

Highest Risk State
Uttar Pradesh remains the most dangerous state for road travel, with nearly maximum risk levels and accounting for approximately 15% of all road deaths in India.
High Risk States
Tamil Nadu (18,300) and Maharashtra (15,335) show alarming fatality rates, requiring immediate intervention and enhanced safety measures.
National Crisis
Based on current data trends, India continues to lead global road death statistics. Comprehensive safety reforms are urgently needed.
